Rights & Reproduction

The Hunter Museum of American Art has over 3,000 works in its permanent collection and provides images for educational presentations, professional research, print and electronic publications, and media projects. Works in the permanent collection, although owned by the Museum, may be protected by copyright that is not owned by the Museum. Many works are copyrighted by the artists, their heirs or organizations holding rights to those works. For those images, the museum has to first obtain permission from the copyright holder, and can then provide permission for its use.

Please use the form on this page to request permission. Permission is granted for one-time, non-exclusive North American reproduction rights in one edition and one language only.

Please note that it is the responsibility of the author and/or publisher to seek permission from the copyright holder if the copyright is not held by the Hunter Museum of American Art.
